Take Out the Trash

cloud7

To help you jump start the new year, we’re posting thirty-one technology and business treats, one for each day of January.

Well, today’s tech task isn’t to literally take out the trash, although I’m sure that would be a welcome endeavor should you offer. Today’s task is to empty your desktop’s trash or recycle bin. Another easy task, especially nice since it is the weekend!

If you’ve never done this before, and I know there are some of you out there, here’s how:

Mac

  • Go to Finder in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
  • Select Secure Empty Trash. A screen will pop-up alerting you that this action permanently erases the items in your Trash.
  • Select Secure Empty Trash. The number and size of files in your Trash will determine how long this will take. A perfect opportunity for you to leave your computer and let the Mac do its Secure Empty Trash magic!

PC

  • Click on the Recycle Bin icon.
  • A menu will appear.
  • Select Empty Recycle Bin. Ta-da!
