Read ALL the Content

To help you jump start the new year, we’re posting thirty-one technology and business treats, one for each day of January.

Time to grab that favorite cold weather beverage, settle into your most comfortable reading chair, pull out your spreadsheet, and read through ALL of the content on your website. Do not pass Go. Do not miss a single page. Do not miss a single form. Do not miss ANYTHING.

I know. I hate being so negative, but content is what’s wrong on the majority of websites. You do not want your’s to be in that infamous mix! Even ugly, outdated design can shine IF the content is excellent. After all, people come to websites for content.

Here’s what to look for:

1. Is it readable? Meaning is the font legible and large enough.

2. Is there enough white space? Meaning does the space feel open and draw you in.

3. Is the message clear? Meaning is the content short, concise, and keeps your attention.

4. Is it error-free? Meaning words are spelled correctly. Good grammar and punctuation are used.

5. Is the content current? Meaning is anything out-of-date or is the information still relevant to the company or business.

Fill in your spreadsheet with all of your discoveries and reactions! Don’t be discouraged. Content is also among the easiest stuff to fix on any website!
